Mysore Shopping Spree!

$1,225: that’s the amount of money raised as of early Monday morning, India time, for Mysore’s People For Animals in three short weeks.

Yesterday it was time to spend the money and, I’m  happy to report, a very successful shopping trip was accomplished. We bought huge waterproof tarp, steel beams, rope and other do-dads to build nice shady shelter, dog and cat food, oats, rice, toys, blankets, towels, torches, shampoos, brushes, cleaning supplies, a ceramic tub (for bathing dogs and other critters), oxygen tank and a small one-burner stove for preparing rice. We drew up plans for the the shady shelter and hired day laborers to erect it by Wed. 30 March, at which time I will be inspecting it, photographing it and posting it here!

Thank you, dear friends, for your generous contributions.

Lynn update: On Thurs. I leave for Goa and, far more exciting, I’m trading up altogether, India for Indonesia. On 28 April, I head to Bali!

Wow!!! Totally inspiring and I will definitely feature you on my Travel and Soul site.
Maybe you can put your ChipIn link on your blog site, too?
You have a lot to be proud of here, Lynn, in the most humble way. You’ve really done something truly remarkable and meaningful. Chapeaux!!
Namaste and a deep bow, Erin

Thanks so much, Erin. My contribution is so rewarding for me. And I love Savitha, the head of Mysore’s People For Animals. Today I scooped up an adorable 4-month (i’m guessing) old puppy from the streets here and Savitha picked up me and new puppy–Mandi (short for Mandela)–and took us to visit with one of the shelter’s most avid donors and then took Mandi to the shelter. She did all of this between 5 pm and 9 pm tonight. If no one worthy of Mandi comes to adopt her by the time I return to Mysore, I’m taking her and bringing her back to Scranton with me!
